We have always been drawn to 'artistic areas' and Rhode Island is no exception.  With driving influence from The Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), Brown University, Johnson & Wales University, University of Rhode Island, and more, the capital city, Providence is a hub of artistic energy and influence... home to world class performing arts, art museums and galleries, and other arts and entertainment resources... and that's not all.

The mission of The Rhode Island State Council on the Arts is to serve as a catalyst for the advancement, appreciation and promotion of excellence in the arts, whether in fine arts, museums, galleries, performing arts, or other arts and entertainment culture, by encouraging leadership, participation, and education in the arts for all Rhode Islanders. Their vision is a Rhode Island rich in arts and entertainment where all people have an opportunity to participate in the arts, where the arts contribute to the social, economic and educational well-being of our state, and where the arts are valued by all Rhode Islanders as an integral part of life.

From one end of the State to the other pockets of art communities thrive in Rhode Island.  From the famous AS220 located in downtown Providence, to the more classic Arts and Cultural Alliance of Newport County you will find Rhode Island rich in both it's Arts and Entertainment.
